The 2nd annual Montco Idol contest
kicked off this morning and is now accepting submissions!
Presented by Digital First Media and Forge Recording
, the contest runs from today (Feb. 26, 2014) until the winner is announced in early May 2014. Entries will be accepted until March 26, 2014 at 11 p.m. From there, our panel of judges will decide who moves on to the Top 12. After the Top 12 is chosen, readers from across Montgomery County will vote to select the Top 3 finalists. Those Top 3 will then get the chance to perform in front of a live audience at the Norristown Arts Hill Festival
on May 3, 2014. Readers will then get the chance to vote again — along with the judging panel's selections — to choose the contest's winner.
What does that winner get? The grand prize winner will receive a radio-ready demo recording at Forge Recording in Oreland as part of a $1,000 value prize package.
Second place and third place winners will also receive prizes, with a $500 value prize package for 2nd place and a $250 value prize package for 3rd place.
Last year's contest was a huge success with 38 entries
from across Montgomery County. Francesca Venezia was crowned the winner in the end, and she just recently recorded her radio-ready demo at Forge Recording (we hope to receive this demo so we can share it with everyone).
