I think The Beatles are overrated.

Now, don't get me wrong. I appreciate them as musicians and think they had their place in music just as every other band/singer does, but I don't understand why everyone makes such a huge deal out of them. Obviously they were one of the biggest bands at the peak of their popularity, but it's a little ridiculous how people glorify the crap out of them. Yes, I like a few of their songs. But, if the entire band were still alive today and I was offered free tickets to their concert, I would turn it down. I'm sorry, but I'd be bored out of my mind.

I have the same kind of feeling about Bruce Springsteen. His fans aren't as obnoxious when it comes to loving his music, but I really don't like him. It's a blasphemous statement, I know, but I've just never had any kind of interest in his music at all. I only know one music video of his because Courtney Cox was in it (no, I don't what the song is called). I also think his live performances are unbearable because his entire band feels that they should all share his mic with him instead of using the one that was designated to them. I'm especially looking at you, Mr. Van Zandt. Please, STEP AWAY FROM HIS MIC.

I know the bands of today have been influenced by musicians of the past, but I would very much appreciate it if older folks would stop trying to shove down my throat that these two artists (among many others) were a direct influence. There is a lot of music that has come since then that a lot of the bands I listen to today glorify more than them (Sunny Day Real Estate and Fugazi being two prime examples).

It should also be known that just because myself and some other people my age don't particularly like some artists of the past, that doesn't mean that we don't appreciate them for what they did. We really do, we're just tired of hearing about them.

High School Favorites

When I was in high school I really started to get passionate about music and the bands that I listened to. I was introduced to a lot of bands through friends and Fuse and I'm still a big fan of most, if not all, of those bands today. Not only was their music great, but they also had some pretty awesome videos to go along with their singles.

So, without further ado, here's my Top 10 High School Favorites:

10. "Swing, Swing" - The All-American Rejects

9. "Anthem of Our Dying Day" - Story of the Year

8. "Best Of Me" - The Starting Line

7. "First Date" - Blink-182

6. "Ocean Avenue" - Yellowcard

(watch music video here)

5. "The Taste of Ink" - The Used

4. "Motivation Proclamation" - Good Charlotte

3. "I'm Not Okay" - My Chemical Romance

2. "A Praise Chorus" - Jimmy Eat World

1. "You're So Last Summer" - Taking Back Sunday
